Reflections

Throughout my career as a Penn State AE student, I have absorbed an abundant amount of information that will help me to develop during my professional career. The lessons taught to me were not limited to teaching simple step by step process but also encouraged a complete thought process and understanding. At times it was hard to see how some of the things that I was learning would be relevant to my career. However, during both the fall and spring portions of my senior thesis  the dots began to connect.

During my senior thesis I was tasked with developing a complete understanding of a building's functionality and to evaluate its design. Later on I was retasked with redesigning the building in order to met requirements of my own choosing. These task are similar to those that I will face in the field and has opened my eyes up to the many issues that I could possibly face when I begin my practice. Since senior thesis doesn't limit students to one specific building it allows us to come to a variety of different issues, solutions, and even thought processes.

I am very thankful for the AE department and the things that I have learned through my classes as well as senior thesis.
